Establishing Business Modality and Develop Community Based Sustainable Ecotourism Venture at Manewa Kanda Eco-Park is an initiative which was evolved as a requirement of the project named “Enhancing Biodiversity Conservation & Sustenance of Ecosystem Services in Environmentally Sensitive Area" (ESA). Industrial Services Bureau (ISB) contracted with UNDP, the technical support arm of the project to undertake the role of business model formulation and business plan preparation for Manewa Kanda Eco-Park aiming a sustainable Ecotourism Venture at Manewa Kanda.

"Enhancing Biodiversity Conservation & Sustenance of Ecosystem Services in Environmentally Sensitive Area" (ESA) Project is a GEF funded project, implemented by the Ministry of Environment with the technical support of UNDP. This is a five year pilot project started in 2015. The project assists the Government of Sri Lanka to safeguard biodiversity in multiple land use areas of special ecological significance through the operationalization of a new land use governance framework called Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESAs). ESAs are primarily landscapes outside the protected areas having high biodiversity and conservation significance. The primary objective of this project is to operationalize Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA), as a mechanism for mainstreaming biodiversity management into development in areas of high conservation significance.
